ICP works with the East-West Center and other global subject matter experts to implement climate and peace leadership education programming for fellows from the Asia Pacific studying in Honolulu, Hawai’i.

Convening of Practitioners

In March 2018, ICP engaged 55 of Hawaiʻi’s foremost experts in the fields of peacebuilding and conflict transformation,  indigenous and place-based knowledge, and climate resilience at a day-long strategy session on the links between global change and peace at local, national, and international levels.

Workshop: Forging Climate Resilient and Peace-Oriented Leadership

In January 2019, ICP conducted a futures workshop at the Obama Foundation Design Workshop Hawai’i for 21 young leaders from the Pacific-Asia region to examine emerging and urgent trends, forge tools for climate resilient and peace-oriented leadership, and explore ways to collaborate across cultures.

Kai A Te Rangatira

Kai A Te Rangatira was a mixed panel that brought together future thinkers, leaders, rangatahi, global change makers and homegrown ones too so they can connect, engage and lead a conversation on the issue of ‘leadership, peace, sustainability, and the arts.’ We sought to ignite some critical issues in creative ways which we hope will set the scene for further discussions and ideas that lead to meaningful impact within our communities.

Forging Climate Resilient and Peace-Oriented Leadership

The Student Volunteer Army Foundation and the University of Canterbury Engagement Hub hosted the Institute for Climate and Peace for a workshop exploring climate resilience, multiculturalism and peace education. There, ICP facilitated a futures-inspired and action-oriented workshop.
